CONSTRUCTION UPDATE – SEPTEMBER 2024

We’re excited to share the latest updates on our apartment development project as September draws to a close. Significant progress has been made this month as the building’s structure begins to take shape. Here are the highlights:

Progress Highlights

1. Ground Floor Area 1 Slab Poured

The first slab for Ground Floor Area 1 has been successfully poured, marking another step forward in the development’s structural progress.

2. Columns to Ground Floor Area 1 Formed and Poured On-Site

The vertical columns for Ground Floor Area 1 have been formed and poured, providing essential support for the structure above.

3. Core Walls Formed and Poured on South West Portion of Areas 2 and 3 Ground Floor Slab

Core wall construction continues with successful forming and pouring on the South West portion of the Ground Floor Areas 2 and 3. These walls are critical for stability and housing key services.

4. Ground Floor Area 2 Formed

The formwork for Ground Floor Area 2 is now complete, laying the foundation for the next phase of concrete work.

5. Ground Floor Area 2 Pre-lays Completed

All pre-lay work for Ground Floor Area 2 including rio, electrical conduits, reticulation sleeves has been finalised, ensuring everything is in place for the next steps in construction.

6. Ground Floor precast columns installed

As highlighted in the previous months blog in August we had to mobilize a large crane capable of lifting out the over four-tonne art deco columns which are being produced on site as the main site crane simply is not capable of lifting such a large column. The first lift out of the onsite mold proved most challenging requiring 7 tonnes of lifting pressure to crack the column out of the mould but thankfully after a bit of effort all came out beautifully. With some lessons learnt future lifts are likely to be much easier as attention is paid to resolving the points where the mold resisted release of the new column.   The mobilized larger crane was then utilised to lift the four-tonne mold into place on the now finalised slab with it being held in place temporarily by reinforced steel props until the slab above is poured and integrated into the slab above's pour.

What’s Next:

As the project progresses, our focus will be on completing the remaining ground floor slabs and preparing for the construction of level 1 slab. Construction out of the ground will now be clearly evident as we move to the higher levels of this exciting development.
