CONSTRUCTION UPDATE – AUGUST 2024
As we move into August, we are thrilled to see our first precast column poured which is a real feature of this development. This month has seen remarkable progress as we advance through key construction phases. Here are the highlights:
Progress Highlights
1. Basement 1 Slab Completed
We are excited to announce that the Basement 1 slab has been successfully completed. This crucial milestone lays the groundwork for the structural integrity of the building as we continue to move upward.
2. Basement 1 Columns Formed and Poured
The columns for Basement 1 have been formed and poured. These vertical elements are essential for supporting the building’s structure and will provide the necessary strength and stability as we build the levels above.
3. Core Walls Formed and Poured
The core walls have also been formed and poured. These walls are critical for providing structural support and will house essential services and utilities for the building, contributing to both stability and functionality.
4. Ground Floor Area 1 Formwork Completed
The formwork for Ground Floor Area 1 has been completed. This preparation ensures that the concrete pour will be accurate and that the desired shape and finish of the structure will be achieved.
5. Ground Floor Area 1 Reinforcement 90% Complete
Reinforcement work for Ground Floor Area 1 is now 90% complete. This critical step involves adding steel bars to strengthen the concrete and ensure that the structure can withstand various loads and stresses.
6. Ground Floor Area 1 Pre-lays Complete
The pre-lay work for Ground Floor Area 1 has been completed. This involves laying out the necessary elements before the final concrete pour, ensuring everything is in place for the next steps in construction.
7. First Precast Column Poured
We are pleased to report that the first precast column has been successfully poured. A key element of the facade of The Gardens is the beautiful soft curves which are a contemporary interpretation of classic Art Deco design. The mould required to achieve this look has been built on-site with all future pours to be done onsite. The next big challenge will be getting the column out of the mould with the current onsite crane just not strong enough to lift the over four-tonne columns which are designed to fully integrate with the floor slabs above as they are poured. This marks the beginning of using precast elements in the construction.
Stay tuned for next month’s update where we will be reporting on just how we went getting the column out of the mould and installed into place on the ground floor slab!
What’s Next:
Looking ahead, our focus will be on completing the reinforcement and concrete work for Ground Floor Area 1, as well as continuing to implement precast elements in the structure. These efforts are vital as we continue to shape the future of this apartment development.
Thank you for your continued interest and support in our project. We will keep you updated on our progress as we achieve more milestones. If you have any questions or need further information, please get in touch!
